However, there has been no official announcement regarding his departure or any potential association with another franchise.

Questions Raised About Captaincy

According to media reports, there are plans within SRH to promote Ishan Kishan to a leadership role. During the 2026 season, Ishan Kishan captained the team in the absence of Pat Cummins, which has sparked discussions about Abhishek Sharma's aspirations for captaincy.

Abhishek's Long Association with SRH

Having been part of the SRH setup since 2019, Abhishek has expressed a desire for a leadership role. Following the decision to appoint another player as captain, questions have arisen regarding his position within the team. However, this information is based on sources, and Abhishek has not independently confirmed these claims.

SRH Denies Departure Rumors

A crucial aspect of this situation is the denial from SRH's CEO, K. Shanmugam, regarding the rumors of Abhishek leaving the team. The management has dismissed these speculations, indicating that his departure is not currently on the cards.

Potential Teams for Abhishek Sharma

Reports indicate that if Abhishek and SRH agree to part ways, franchises such as Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, and Punjab Kings are being considered as potential options. The Delhi Capitals have also been mentioned as a possible destination. However, no deals or transfers with these teams have been confirmed.

Process for Change: Trade or Release

For Abhishek Sharma to leave SRH before IPL 2027, an agreement must be reached between the franchise and the player, following the IPL's established retention, release, or trade protocols. Currently, no concrete deals have emerged.

Monitoring Abhishek Sharma's Future

Abhishek Sharma has been a key player for SRH, known for his aggressive batting style in T20 cricket. Consequently, any changes regarding his future will be closely watched by the cricketing community.
