On Friday evening, Abhishek Banerjee, a leader of the Trinamool Congress, is set to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. During this meeting, he will present his stance regarding the ongoing division within the party and express his opposition to the recognition of the splinter group. According to sources, this discussion is scheduled for 5 PM in the Speaker's chamber at Parliament. The meeting follows an invitation from the Speaker, who encouraged Banerjee to voice his concerns. This invitation comes ahead of a decision regarding the demands of 20 rebel MPs from the Trinamool Congress, who are seeking recognition as a separate faction following reports of their merger with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India.

Concerns Over Recognition of Splinter Group

On June 10, Banerjee sent a letter to the Speaker requesting that no recognition, status, or privileges be granted to any group claiming to be a separate faction of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).
