AAP Leaders March Against E-20 Petrol Policy in Delhi

Protest Against E-20 Petrol Policy

New Delhi, August 4 - A march towards the Prime Minister's residence was organized by Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), along with around 100 supporters, to submit over 230,000 petitions opposing the sale of E-20 petrol. However, the Delhi police halted their progress on Feroz Shah Road.

After being stopped by the police, Kejriwal, along with former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Jasmine Shah, and other party leaders, staged a sit-in protest right there on Feroz Shah Road. The AAP had initiated this march to deliver the petitions collected from citizens across the country.

These petitions were aimed at contesting the government's policy promoting E-20 petrol, which critics claim adversely affects vehicle owners due to the ethanol-blended fuel. Prior to the march, Kejriwal addressed his supporters, stating that the party was carrying over 230,000 petitions signed by people nationwide and urged the government to heed the concerns of millions of vehicle owners. He remarked, “We are heading to the Prime Minister's residence with over 230,000 petitions signed by citizens across the country.”

He further emphasized, “We want the government to listen to the millions of vehicle owners facing issues due to E-20 petrol.” According to police sources, the protesters were not permitted to advance beyond Feroz Shah Road. They stated, “No one will be allowed to proceed beyond 5, Feroz Shah Road. We have deployed a significant number of security forces, including the Delhi police and paramilitary forces, to maintain law and order.”

This demonstration follows the AAP's recent ethanol rally and a signature campaign against E-20 fuel.

Previously, Kejriwal had written to the Prime Minister requesting a meeting to discuss concerns related to ethanol-blended petrol.
