AAP Accuses BJP of Ignoring Pollution Violations in Delhi
Allegations Against BJP Government
Saurabh Bhardwaj, the Delhi state president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has released a video claiming that despite the BJP government's assertions of strict enforcement under GRAP-IV, a brick kiln is operating within the Kondli Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), emitting thick smoke. AAP asserts that this video was made public following a recent site inspection by Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar.
Concerns Over Air Quality
While sharing the video, Bhardwaj questioned whether the BJP government is merely engaged in public relations and theatrics, asking if the responsibility for protecting Delhi's residents and air quality lies solely with citizens and the opposition.
Inspection Findings by MLA
After inspecting the brick kiln within the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) premises, MLA Kuldeep Kumar reported that a sludge management plant operated by SSP Private Limited is functioning there. He alleged that despite the city-wide enforcement of GRAP-IV restrictions, regulations are being openly violated at this location. Kumar reprimanded the staff present and ordered the immediate closure of the plant.
Government's Response to Weather Conditions
In the meantime, Delhi Minister Majinder Singh Sirsa stated on Monday that the stringent measures implemented under GRAP-IV have yielded positive results, although adverse weather conditions due to a western disturbance continue to plague the national capital. Addressing a press conference, Sirsa noted that the weather in Delhi has been 'very poor' in recent days, necessitating the imposition of strict restrictions.
