In a remarkable display of lifelong learning, an 86-year-old resident of Barnodi village in Assam's Nalbari district has garnered admiration for earning a postgraduate degree in Assamese from Gauhati University.


Sarojani Bhagawati, an octogenarian, has shattered traditional views on age and education by successfully completing her postgraduate examinations, emphasizing that the pursuit of knowledge knows no age limits.


After receiving her exam results, Bhagawati shared her contentment, reflecting on her decision to return to academia after years spent focusing on family duties.


She expressed, “Today, I feel genuinely happy and fulfilled. Following my father's passing and years of managing household responsibilities, I found my mind restless. I sought peace and purpose, and returning to my studies provided both.”


This achievement is not her first; at 72, Bhagawati had previously earned a postgraduate degree in Political Science, showcasing her unwavering dedication to education despite facing personal and societal hurdles.
