29-Year-Old Arrested in Andhra Pradesh for Alleged Terror Plot

Arrest and Judicial Custody

A 29-year-old resident of Vizianagaram, Siraj Ur Rahman, has been placed in judicial custody for 14 days following his arrest on charges related to a terrorist conspiracy. The Superintendent of Police in Vizianagaram confirmed the arrest, which was made under Section 152 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant provisions at the Vizianagaram II Town Police Station.


Details of the Arrest

Rahman, an engineering graduate, was apprehended during a joint operation conducted by counter-intelligence units from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Authorities seized explosive materials from his possession, including ammonia, sulfur, and aluminum powder. Investigations revealed that Rahman had purchased these substances online and had tested an improvised explosive device (IED) in a house located in a remote area near Rampachodavaram.


Collaboration with Telangana Police

The Andhra Pradesh police coordinated with their Telangana counterparts in a joint operation that led to the arrest of two suspects involved in planning explosions in Hyderabad. Rahman was taken into custody following a tip-off. During a search of his premises, police recovered explosive materials, including ammonia, sulfur, and aluminum powder. Additionally, several pipes were found, which were allegedly intended for bomb-making. During interrogation, Rahman disclosed information that led to the detention of Sameer (28) from Hyderabad. The police have filed a case under the Explosive Substances Act, the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, and relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
