Departure of Pilgrims for Amarnath Cave
A total of 6,639 pilgrims set off on Saturday from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu to visit the sacred Amarnath cave temple located in the southern Himalayan region of Kashmir. This marks the 11th group of devotees making the journey, as confirmed by officials.
According to the authorities, the group includes 1,462 women, 41 children, and 181 saints and sages, who departed in two separate convoys under tight security. The pilgrims are heading towards the base camps in Anantnag's Nunwan-Pahalgam and Ganderbal's Baltal.
Of these, 4,302 pilgrims are traveling to the Pahalgam base camp in a convoy of 159 vehicles, while 2,337 pilgrims are making their way via the Baltal route in 116 vehicles.
