Yudhvir Ahlawat Surprises Fans by Leading IMDB Rankings

The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) updates its list of the most popular Indian celebrities weekly, based on user visits to their profiles. This week, a surprising name emerged at the top: child actor Yudhvir Ahlawat. He outperformed renowned stars such as Ranveer Singh, Kartik Aaryan, Aishwarya Rai, Vijay, and Mohanlal. Yudhvir portrayed a 16-year-old sharpshooter in the film 'Kartavya' directed by Pulkit.

Here’s what the talented actor, who is actually 33 years old, shared about this unexpected achievement.

Yudhvir, how does it feel to be at the top of the IMDB list, surpassing major stars?

It feels surreal, to be honest. I was completely unaware of it until a friend informed me while I was preparing for a self-test for another project. It was a new experience for me, and it took a moment to grasp what was happening. However, I don’t view it as ‘beating’ anyone; I have immense respect for all the senior artists and superstars. To me, it reflects the audience's affection in an unexpected manner, which motivates me to work harder and stay focused on my journey.

How did you get the role in 'Kartavya'?

One day, I received a call from the casting team of Mukesh Chhabra, who informed me about auditions for 'Kartavya.' I went to their office well-prepared and auditioned. Interestingly, they only needed one take from me, and I was told, 'Okay, you can leave.' I felt a strong connection to my character, Harpal, even before I was officially cast. A week later, I received confirmation from Red Chillies that I had landed the role.

Interestingly, you appear much younger than your actual age—does that work to your advantage?

Not necessarily. I usually keep my real age under wraps until I secure a role. If there is any advantage, it’s my ability to deeply understand the emotions of characters, which many of my co-actors might not grasp as well. I also write occasionally, which enhances my observational skills. While people may see my youthful appearance as a benefit, it comes with years of challenges, including bullying, that have shaped me significantly.

What was your experience working with director Pulkit and co-star Saif Ali Khan?

Working with Pulkit was fantastic. I formed a strong bond with him during group readings and narration sessions before filming. Each day on set was a learning experience, especially regarding discipline and honest performances. Collaborating with Saif was equally rewarding; he is very supportive of his co-stars. During my close-up shots, he would provide cues, and I admire his lack of insecurity around fellow actors. He fosters a relaxed and positive environment on set, making the entire process enjoyable.

Can you share details about your other projects?

I have three or four projects lined up, including a web series, an independent film, and a feature film. Additionally, I have been performing in the Broadway-style theatre production 'Mughal-e-Azam: The Musical,' directed by Feroz Abbas Khan, for the past eight years. We have showcased this production in various countries, including the US and Canada.

Is 'Kartavya' leading to more quality projects for you?

Absolutely, 'Kartavya' has opened new avenues for me and sparked more meaningful discussions within the industry. People are now recognizing my work with a more serious lens, which is very encouraging.
