Yash's Vision for 'Toxic'
Yash, the renowned pan-Indian actor, emphasizes a unified approach in cinema, stating, “I believe in one thing… now there is no more Kannada, Tamil, Telugu division… ‘Toxic’ is an Indian film.” He is stepping out of his comfort zone, risking his established career to elevate Indian cinema on a global platform.He clarifies, “This movie is not just Yash's film; it represents an Indian narrative where top talents have set aside their insecurities and ambitions to unite for a common purpose.”
With humility, Yash approaches the stage, initially speaking in Kannada before transitioning to English, often poking fun at himself while sharing his grand vision for 'Toxic'.
Following the success of 'KGF', he has taken a significant risk with this unconventional storyline. “It’s not your typical commercial film,” he admits, describing it as “a unique blend and a bold endeavor.”
Yash has invested his heart into this project, co-writing and co-producing it, while also taking on a dual role. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, he expresses, “I value a director’s passion over their past achievements.” He was drawn to Geetu’s intense dedication and ambition to showcase her talent. Her leadership in a gangster narrative resonates with Yash’s own career philosophy of self-investment.
“When you aspire to achieve something, nothing should hinder you,” he asserts. He views any naysayer as someone lacking imagination.
'Toxic' required immense commitment, with Yash revealing that the film underwent approximately 200 days of shooting in both Kannada and English. He humorously remarks about his English skills, saying, “You know my English, yaaa…” He likens the filmmaking process to a battle against the world. Despite facing delays and rumors, Yash and his team persevered, focusing on more than just completing the film.
He expresses gratitude towards his wife, Radhika Pandit, acknowledging her support throughout this demanding project. “I want to thank my wife. It’s not easy to be my friend or partner. I’m a challenging person to be with, especially during this film which required multiple looks and extensive time. Radhika managed all responsibilities while being my pillar of support. Thank you so much. Nothing will go to waste,” he assures.
Yash highlights the contributions of his cast rather than positioning himself as the sole star. He also addresses the controversies surrounding the film, particularly the bold song 'Tabaahi', which led to criticism of Kiara Advani for her daring scenes, while he faced little backlash. He reassures Kiara, “It’s unfortunate what you had to endure. Trust me, people will celebrate and appreciate. We are simply ahead of our time.”
He commends Nayanthara for her rare promotional efforts, calls Huma Qureshi the “brand ambassador of 'Toxic',” acknowledges his learning from Akshay Oberoi, and appreciates Sudev Nair for his adaptability during chaotic shooting schedules. He takes pride in Rukmini Vasanth’s journey as a fellow Karnataka native.
