Urfi Javed Visits Kamakhya Temple Amid Controversy Over Faith
Urfi Javed's Temple Visit Sparks Attention
Social media influencer and actress Urfi Javed is making headlines once more, this time due to her recent visit to the Kamakhya Devi Temple in Guwahati. This visit occurred shortly after she addressed rumors regarding her religious beliefs. During her trip, Urfi offered prayers and posted images on her Instagram account, showcasing her in a lime green kurta paired with a pink dupatta draped over her head, complemented by a red religious scarf and a tilak. This attire marked a more subdued appearance for someone typically recognized for her daring fashion choices. The images captured her in a moment of prayer with her hands clasped together during the temple ceremonies.
This visit came on the heels of a viral debate surrounding her religious identity. Journalist and content creator Meeta Chowdhry had shared a video alleging that Urfi had converted from Islam to Hinduism and adopted the name "Rita Bhardwaj," while also criticizing her fashion sense. In response, Urfi took to her Instagram Stories to refute these claims, asserting that she has never altered her name or faith and does not adhere to any religion. She further challenged Chowdhry's qualifications and urged her to fact-check before making such statements.
Urfi subsequently posted screenshots of messages she claimed were sent by Chowdhry, describing them as too "triggering" to share in their entirety. She mentioned that the original video had been removed and that Chowdhry had blocked her on social media. As of now, Chowdhry has not issued any public comments regarding the situation.
