What is a Heel Tab?

You may have noticed a small strap or loop located at the back of shoes, known as a ‘heel tab’ or ‘pull loop’. This feature is primarily designed to facilitate the easy wearing of shoes.

When putting on shoes, pulling this loop at the back allows the foot to slide in effortlessly. This action helps prevent the ‘heel counter’ (the stiff part at the back) from bending or breaking, thereby extending the lifespan of the footwear. Additionally, this loop serves another practical purpose: it can be used to hang shoes for drying after washing or exposure to moisture.

Beyond these functional uses, many shoe manufacturers also utilize the ‘pull loop’ for branding purposes, often printing their company name or logo on it.
