Date Barfi Recipe
Ingredients Quantity
Dates (pitted) 500 grams
Mixed dry fruits (cashews, almonds, pistachios) 1 cup (finely chopped)
Poppy seeds 2 tablespoons
Pure ghee 2-3 tablespoons
Cardamom powder ½ teaspoon
Preparation Steps
Begin by removing the seeds from the dates and chopping them into small pieces. Grind the chopped dates coarsely in a blender without adding water.
Next, heat a tablespoon of ghee in a pan. Add the chopped dry fruits and sauté until they turn a light golden brown, then transfer them to a plate.
In the same pan, dry roast the poppy seeds and set them aside.
Then, add the remaining ghee to the pan and incorporate the ground dates. Cook on low heat for 4-5 minutes, stirring continuously until the dates soften and form a dough-like consistency. Mix in the roasted dry fruits and cardamom powder until well combined.
Grease a plate or tray with ghee. Spread the mixture evenly and sprinkle the roasted poppy seeds on top. Press gently with a spoon to ensure the seeds adhere.
Allow it to cool for 1-2 hours. Once set, cut into desired shapes using a knife.
