TikTok Video Featuring Taylor Swift's Song Faces Copyright Issues

A recent TikTok post from the official account of Donald Trump's campaign, featuring Taylor Swift's song 'August,' has had its audio muted due to copyright concerns, as reported.

The video, shared four days ago by the @TeamTrump TikTok account, showcased Trump and Melania Trump enjoying fireworks from a balcony. The overlay text stated, 'Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president.' Initially, the caption read, 'I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.' However, fans quickly noticed that the song from Swift's 2020 album 'Folklore' was no longer part of the video. In the US version of TikTok, a notification appears stating, 'The copyright owner hasn’t made this sound available in your country.'

The @TeamTrump account, boasting approximately 14 million followers, was established in anticipation of the 2024 presidential election and has been actively posting content since Trump's return to the White House.

This incident marks not the first time a Trump campaign TikTok has lost audio featuring Swift's music. A previous video using her song 'Father Figure,' posted on November 6, 2025, also had its sound removed.

Interestingly, a more recent video from Team Trump, uploaded just a day ago, still retained the audio for a version of Swift's 'Red' at the time of this report. Additionally, a video from the official White House TikTok account posted last November continues to feature Swift's 'The Fate of Ophelia.'

Swift and Trump have had public disagreements regarding political matters. In September 2024, Trump expressed his disdain for Swift on social media after she endorsed then-Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, stating, 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!'

In her Instagram post, Swift declared, 'I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.'

This conflict followed another incident in August 2024, where Trump shared AI-generated images that misleadingly suggested Swift had endorsed him. One image portrayed Swift as Uncle Sam with the caption, 'Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.'

During an interview with Fox Business, Trump downplayed concerns about potential legal action from Swift regarding the fabricated images, claiming they 'were all made up by other people.'
