Sophie Turner Discusses Early Motherhood

Sophie Turner has openly shared her thoughts on the distinct benefits of becoming a mother in her twenties, describing the journey as both rewarding and stabilizing, despite the hurdles it presents in her career. In a recent interview, the 'Game of Thrones' actress, who is a mother to daughters Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3, with her former husband Joe Jonas, reflected on how early motherhood has influenced her life. "It's truly wonderful," said the 29-year-old, emphasizing that having children at a young age alleviated many concerns that women often face later on.

"I don't have to worry about my biological clock and those kinds of issues," she continued. Turner noted that motherhood provided her with a much-needed break from the spotlight, allowing her to focus on her personal growth after years of relentless work. "It felt like the perfect time to take a step back for myself, as I had been immersed in my roles for so long," she explained. "Nesting and spending time at home were incredible experiences," she added.

However, she also recognized that this break had its downsides professionally. "The downside, especially with Covid, was that it created a significant gap in my career," she mentioned, acknowledging that returning to acting would require considerable effort. "You don’t realize how crucial momentum is in a career until you lose it, and I definitely stalled mine a bit."

Turner and Jonas finalized their divorce in September 2024, following a widely publicized custody battle in 2023. Despite the difficulties, both have expressed positive sentiments about their co-parenting relationship.

"I have a wonderful co-parenting dynamic that I truly appreciate," Jonas shared during Jay Shetty's On Purpose Live Tour in May 2025. He praised Turner as an "incredible mom" and a strong role model for their daughters, emphasizing the values he wishes to instill in them, such as confidence, open-mindedness, and compassion. "I want them to look up to great women as they grow up," he stated.

Turner has previously expressed regret over how their divorce played out in the public eye, especially concerning their children, but she remains optimistic about their ability to co-parent effectively. "Joe is a fantastic father to our kids, and that’s all I can ask for," she remarked, highlighting the commitment both parents share in raising their daughters.
