Chandigarh Hosts SK Tricity Marathon
On Sunday, September 27, the SK Tricity Marathon took place in Chandigarh, featuring former international badminton player Saina Nehwal. The event aimed to raise awareness about fitness, substance abuse, and cybercrime. Approximately 8,000 runners from Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula participated.

During the event, Saina Nehwal encouraged attendees to prioritize physical activity in their daily routines. She emphasized that despite busy schedules, everyone should dedicate at least one hour for fitness.
Massive Participation in the Marathon
According to the organizers, over 8,000 individuals registered for the marathon, leading to the closure of registrations due to high demand. The event featured three categories catering to various age groups and fitness levels.
Marathon Categories for All Ages
The marathon included a 3-kilometer fun run, a 10-kilometer run, and a 21.097-kilometer half marathon, allowing children, youth, seniors, and fitness enthusiasts to participate according to their abilities.
Starting Point at Chandigarh Club
The marathon commenced and concluded at Chandigarh Club, Sector-1. Participants in the 21-kilometer race followed a route that included the northern path, Rose Garden, and Sukhna Lake walkway. The 10-kilometer race involved one loop of this route, while the fun run had a shorter designated path.
Theme Focused on Digital Safety
This year's marathon theme was 'Run for Safe Digital Bharat,' aiming to raise awareness about online fraud, digital scams, and cybercrime. The organizers sought to combine fitness with digital safety, encouraging participants to maintain health while being vigilant online.
Campaign Against Substance Abuse
The marathon also served as a platform for a campaign against substance abuse, with participation from police and administrative officials. Chandigarh Police promoted messages encouraging people to stay away from drugs and raise awareness among the youth.
Saina Nehwal Draws Attention
Olympic medalist Saina Nehwal was a major draw for the event. According to the organizers, their goal was to spread the message of sports and fitness to a wider audience. The marathon aimed to motivate individuals to adopt regular physical activity and a healthier lifestyle.
