Significance of Bade Mangal: Worshipping Lord Hanuman and Offerings to Shivling
Understanding Bade Mangal
Tuesdays that occur in the month of *Jyeshtha* are particularly important in Hindu tradition, referred to as 'Bade Mangal' or 'Budhwa Mangal.' This day is dedicated to the veneration of Lord Hanuman, known as *Sankatmochan* (the Remover of Troubles). As the 11th *Rudra Avatar* of Lord Shiva, honoring the *Shivling* on *Bade Mangal* not only pleases *Mahadev* but also invites the blessings of *Bajrangbali*. In this article, we will delve into the offerings that should be made to the *Shivling* on the first *Bade Mangal*.
Essential Offerings for the Shivling
**Items to Offer**
**Red Sandalwood and Red Flowers:** Although Lord Shiva typically prefers white items, on *Bade Mangal*, it is auspicious to apply a paste of red sandalwood to the *Shivling* and present red roses or hibiscus flowers. This practice is believed to alleviate the adverse effects linked to the planet Mars (*Mangal*).
**Water and *Akshat* (Unbroken Rice) from a Copper Vessel:** Prepare a copper vessel (*Lota*) filled with holy water (like *Gangajal*), add a few grains of *Akshat*, and offer it to the *Shivling* while reciting "Om Namah Shivaya."
**Bilva Leaves and *Besan Laddoos*:** Present *Bilva* (Bael) leaves to *Mahadev* along with *Besan Laddoos* (gram flour sweets), which are beloved by Lord Hanuman, as *Bhog* (sacred food offering). Sharing this *Bhog* as *Prasad* (blessed food) after the worship fosters peace and harmony in the household.
Guidelines for Worship
**Worship Rules**
After bathing, wear garments in red or yellow.
It is important to note that while Lord Hanuman appreciates *Tulsi* (Holy Basil), *Tulsi* leaves should not be offered to the *Shivling*, as this is considered inappropriate.
Reciting the *Hanuman Chalisa* while seated before the *Shivling* and concluding the ritual with the *Aarti* (hymn of light) dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman is deemed highly virtuous.
Post-worship, humbly ask for forgiveness for any mistakes made during the ritual.
