Severe Winter Conditions Hit Rajasthan as Cold Wave Approaches

Rajasthan is experiencing a significant drop in temperatures as a cold wave sweeps across the state. The India Meteorological Department has issued alerts for several districts, predicting nighttime temperatures to fall below 10 degrees Celsius. With a new Western Disturbance expected to impact the region, residents are advised to take precautions against the biting cold. Experts warn that this winter may be harsher than usual, with temperatures remaining below seasonal averages. As the cold intensifies, many are seen bundled up to combat the chill, recalling the severe conditions of last year that led to tragic losses.
 

Cold Wave Alert Issued in Rajasthan


Jaipur, December 2: A new wave of cold winds has begun to sweep through Rajasthan, signaling the arrival of harsh winter weather.


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a cold wave warning for the districts of Jhalawar, Sawai Madhopur, and Churu, effective from Wednesday.


As per the weather bureau, temperatures in the Shekhawati region are expected to plummet further, potentially reaching lows of 4 to 5 degrees Celsius between December 2 and 4.


Nighttime temperatures are predicted to decrease by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in the upcoming days, resulting in severe cold across the northern and eastern areas of the state.


Ten cities have recorded night temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.


On Monday, several cities reported minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, including Alwar at 8 degrees Celsius, Pilani at 7.2 degrees Celsius, Sikar at 8.5 degrees Celsius, Churu at 7.4 degrees Celsius, Sri Ganganagar at 7.8 degrees Celsius, Nagaur at 8.8 degrees Celsius, Fatehpur at 6.5 degrees Celsius, Dausa at 9.4 degrees Celsius, Lunkaransar at 4.7 degrees Celsius, and Jhunjhunu at 9.3 degrees Celsius, with Pilani recording 10.4 degrees Celsius.


A new Western Disturbance is anticipated to activate over the Himalayan region, which may lead to a significant drop in temperatures across North India, including Rajasthan.


The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the districts of Sikar and Jhunjhunu for December 3 and 4, forecasting cold wave conditions and a further decrease in temperatures.


Meteorologists expect the cold impact to intensify after December 5, resulting in notably colder nights.


Experts suggest that this winter could be longer and more severe than usual, with minimum temperatures likely to remain below the seasonal average from December through February.


The Rajasthan Weather Department has urged farmers, vulnerable groups, and residents to take necessary precautions against the biting cold.


Residents have been seen bundled up in winter clothing to shield themselves from the frigid temperatures.


On Sunday, many areas experienced a drop in night temperatures by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius.


Last year, the intense cold claimed many lives across the country.
