Exploring the Life of Arya Sinha

Sayani Gupta, recognized for her performances in Axone, Four More Shots Please!, and Margarita with a Straw, takes on the lead role of Arya Sinha in her latest film.

Directed and penned by Neil Tuli, the narrative centers around Arya's struggles as she navigates a tumultuous new setting, compelling her to relinquish control, face her deep-seated insecurities, and redefine her understanding of success.

The official synopsis describes her character as a dedicated piano instructor from a renowned Indian conservatory, who hesitantly accepts a position in northern Minnesota. Her goal is to revitalize a failing band program while also advancing her career aspirations back in India, as reported by a Media House.

Neil Tuli, making his feature film directorial debut with 'Arya', has previously held strategic positions at Netflix and Illumination.

The film is produced under Tuli's American Haathi banner, in collaboration with Pallavi and Keertana Sastry from Adda G Productions, known for their work on 'Land of Gold'.

In addition to her acting role, Sayani Gupta also takes on the responsibilities of executive producer for this independent feature.

Gupta gained significant recognition for her role in Shonali Bose's Margarita with a Straw, where she played a blind Pakistani Bangladeshi queer student activist.

This film made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2014. She has also appeared in Parched and The Hungry, both of which premiered at TIFF. Among her numerous accolades, she received a nomination for an International Indian Film Academy award for her performance in Article 15.

'Arya' is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
