Randeep Hooda Supports Supreme Court Review on Stray Dog Ruling
Randeep Hooda's Advocacy for Stray Dogs
Actor and animal enthusiast Randeep Hooda has expressed his views regarding the Supreme Court's decision to revisit its recent ruling concerning stray dogs in the National Capital Region (NCR). He commended the Chief Justice of India for agreeing to reassess the issue.
Randeep stated, “I am pleased to learn that the Honourable CJI is willing to reconsider the ruling on stray dogs in NCR. Any law that is enacted must prioritize humane treatment, alongside ensuring that the necessary infrastructure and sensitivity are addressed.”
Recognizing that stray dogs represent both a “shared community humanitarian duty and, at times, a public safety issue,” Randeep highlighted the importance of finding solutions that protect both animals and people. He remarked, “While I have a deep love for animals, how can I explain this to a family that has suffered the loss of a loved one due to rabies or has faced serious injuries? It’s a difficult position.” He further noted that simply rounding up all stray dogs might not be a feasible or effective approach.
Instead, Randeep proposed sustainable strategies such as extensive, cyclical neutering, capturing and relocating aggressive territorial groups, and promoting responsible pet adoption. “This long-term solution could gradually decrease the stray population over time. Additionally, I encourage everyone to adopt as many pets as possible and take genuine responsibility for their care. I certainly have,” he concluded.
