A New Chapter in the Beloved Franchise

Rabb Da Radio 3 marks a touching continuation of a cherished Punjabi series, featuring Tarsem Jassar, Nimrat Khaira, and Ronak Joshi in a narrative that intertwines emotion, cultural depth, and social commentary. During the trailer launch in Chandigarh, the cast and creators shared insights into the extensive journey that led to this project.

For Tarsem, this film holds significant personal meaning. He reflected on the franchise, stating, “The initial song, the first victory, the first love — those feelings linger. I began my career with Rabb Da Radio, making it eternally special. With Rabb Da Radio 3, it feels like reliving that initial thrill.”

He also emphasized the commitment involved in crafting the story, saying, “We dedicated three-and-a-half years to this script. There were moments we felt it needed more, and at times we took a step back — but our goal was to ensure it felt genuine.”

Nimrat expressed her emotional and fulfilling experience, highlighting her connection to the story. “I’m thrilled to be part of such a beautiful narrative,” she remarked. “I assure you that every emotion portrayed in this film comes directly from the heart.” She also commended the collaborative spirit on set, calling it a privilege to work with a team dedicated to authenticity.

Ronak shared her initial nerves about joining such a respected franchise. “Being part of Rabb Da Radio 3 is a blessing. I learned so much from Nimrat di on set,” she noted. In the film, Nimrat and Ronak portray sisters who become devrani-jethani (sisters-in-law) entangled in family dynamics. Ronak emphasized the film’s cultural significance, stating, “This is more than just a story — it embodies the essence of Punjab, its language, and its relationships. That’s what makes it unique.”

Writer Jass Grewal and director Harry Bhatti stressed the importance of creative freedom in shaping the film’s narrative. “For any writer or filmmaker, having the liberty to give your all is crucial,” they remarked. “We were fortunate to have producers who believed in us and allowed us to tell the story authentically.”

Discussing the film’s thematic essence, Jass added, “Punjabiyat is not merely written — it’s felt. That spirit fuels this narrative.” Staying true to its theme, filming took place during winter, with some scenes taking two to three days to complete due to weather challenges, yet the team remained resolute.

Actor Malkeet Rauni passionately conveyed the film’s message, stating, “A family that respects its members flourishes. Nowadays, we are gradually losing respect — for our language, culture, and each other. This film serves as a reminder of the importance of these values.”

Quoting renowned writer Surjit Patar — ‘Mai Raahan te nahi turda, main turda haan ta raah ban de’ — he compared the team’s efforts to forging a new path in Punjabi cinema.

Reflecting on his journey, Tarsem remarked, “Debuting with a film like Rabb Da Radio could have been a poor commercial choice, but it felt right. Back in 2017, I was quite inexperienced — it felt as if the story was crafted for me, requiring little acting.”

The title Rabb Da Radio symbolizes an unseen, enduring connection between human emotions and a higher truth. The film suggests that life resonates on a deeper frequency, guided by a divine presence, and the third installment aims to remain true to that emotion and spirit of Punjabiyat.

The second installment received a National Award, a milestone the team considers a significant achievement, motivating them to elevate their work further. Tarsem acknowledged the responsibility filmmakers face in today’s competitive environment, stating, “Our films now compete with high-budget Hollywood productions. If audiences are paying the same ticket price, it’s our duty to deliver value — and we’ve strived to do just that.”

Rabb Da Radio 3 is scheduled to release in theaters on April 3.
