Enhanced Convenience for Devotees at Mahakaleshwar Temple

Every day, a multitude of devotees visit the famous Baba Mahakal shrine. To improve the experience for these visitors, the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Committee regularly makes adjustments. As April arrives, the intense summer heat is already making its presence felt. In response, the Temple Committee has announced some positive changes for Mahakal devotees.

Notably, the process for attending the *Bhasm Aarti* (Ash Ritual) at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain has seen a significant overhaul. Previously, devotees had to endure long waits, sometimes even camping out for a day to secure a free offline permit; this system has now been completely eliminated. The Temple Committee has transitioned to a digital format, allowing for instant online bookings. Devotees can now reserve their slots a day in advance from the comfort of their homes. Additionally, the booking window has been shortened from three months to just one month, streamlining the entire process.

**New Fees for Bhasm Aarti**
At the Mahakaleshwar Temple, 300 offline permits for the morning *Bhasm Aarti* were previously issued at no cost. This often led to long lines, where only a few would manage to secure a permit after hours of waiting. However, this system has been revised. While devotees will benefit from avoiding long queues, they will now need to pay a fee. The Temple Committee has made a significant change by discontinuing the offline permit system. Now, offline permits will be available online for a fee of ₹200. This means that while 300 devotees used to wait in line, they can now conveniently book their slots from home, albeit at a cost for the *darshan* (viewing) that was once free.

**Summer Relief for Devotees**
With the introduction of this new facility, the Temple Committee aims to alleviate the burden of long waits during the hot summer months. This new system was launched on April 9th, effectively ending the offline permit issuance. Devotees can now book 300 permits online one day in advance under a category known as the "Tatkal Quota." To utilize this service, devotees must pay ₹200 per person online through the official Mahakal Temple website: https://www.shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in/.

**Booking Process Explained**
Devotees can make Tatkal Bhasma Aarti bookings via the official Shri Mahakaleshwar Committee website. The booking portal will open at 8:00 AM the day before the desired date. For instance, if a booking is needed for April 20th, the portal will be accessible at 8:00 AM on April 19th. Reservations will be confirmed on a "first-come, first-served" basis, with a limit of 300 devotees.

**End of the Three-Month Wait**
A new era has begun for Bhasma Aarti bookings at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain. Devotees no longer need to plan three months in advance; the rules have changed. They can now book their visits just one month ahead of time. The booking window for May will open at 8:00 AM on April 21st, and the process for each subsequent month will commence on the first day of that month.
