Mijwan Artisans Shine at Paris Haute Couture Week with Manish Malhotra
Celebrating Indian Craftsmanship on a Global Stage
A stunning couture piece, intricately hand-embroidered by the talented women of Mijwan, was presented during Manish Malhotra’s inaugural appearance at the Paris Haute Couture Week for Fall/Winter 2026. This event represented a significant achievement for Mijwan and its artisans, showcasing the remarkable chikankari artistry from Uttar Pradesh on one of the fashion industry's most esteemed platforms.
Shabana Azmi, who leads the Mijwan Welfare Society, expressed her heartfelt appreciation, stating, “We are incredibly thankful to Manish Malhotra for his steadfast belief in the skills of Mijwan’s women artisans. His decision to feature their chikankari creations during his debut at Paris Haute Couture Week is not only a privilege but also a strong affirmation of their exceptional craftsmanship.”
Interestingly, Malhotra kept his plans for the Mijwan fabric under wraps. Shabana revealed, “I was aware that Manish was preparing his Paris collection, but he didn’t inform me that Mijwan’s work would be included. When he discreetly sent me the photo, I was overjoyed. I eagerly await his return so we can celebrate together. This collection is bold, innovative, and almost daring! It firmly establishes India on the global fashion map.”
