Lamine Yamal Acquires Gerard Piqué and Shakira's Former Mansion Amid Break-In Attempt
Lamine Yamal's New Property Acquisition
Barcelona's rising star, Lamine Yamal, has made headlines by purchasing the former residence of Gerard Piqué and Shakira in Esplugues de Llobregat, located just outside Barcelona, for an estimated price of around Rs 121 crore. This luxurious mansion has recently attracted attention for an alarming incident: security footage captured two masked individuals attempting to break into the property, although they fled before law enforcement arrived. This attempted burglary took place early Wednesday morning, shortly after Spain's victory over France in the World Cup semi-finals, while Yamal was away representing his nation.

Mansion With A Past
As reported by a Spanish news outlet, Yamal was drawn to this opulent estate, which holds a significant place in recent FC Barcelona history, having been the home of former team captain Gerard Piqué for many years. Constructed in 2012, the property covers 3,800 square meters and includes three separate houses, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, a tennis court, a gym, multiple terraces, and even a recording studio.
Piqué and Shakira initially put the estate on the market in 2022, shortly after their separation, with an asking price of approximately €14 million. After remaining unsold for years and with one of the secondary homes sold separately, the price was reduced by about €3 million, leaving the remaining properties valued at nearly €11 million, or around £9.5 million by late 2025.

What The House Has To Offer
The mansion boasts six bedrooms, five bathrooms, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a tennis court, and a recording studio that Shakira reportedly used. Yamal is planning extensive renovations to make the space his own. A real estate agent who guided a journalist through the property emphasized its prime location, stating that Yamal "did not move away, he moved closer," as the estate is just minutes from FC Barcelona's training facilities. He finalized the purchase in late 2025, shortly after turning 18, following a period of the estate being vacant for over two years after Piqué and Shakira's breakup.
This marks Yamal's first property acquisition solely for himself, having previously purchased homes for his mother, father, and grandmother. He is believed to reside in the new mansion with his cousin and a friend, and he recently signed a lucrative contract that places him among the top ten highest-paid football players.
