Kirti Kulhari Falls Victim to Cyber Fraud, Loses Over ₹2.4 Lakh
Cyber Fraud Strikes Bollywood Star Kirti Kulhari
Bollywood actress and producer Kirti Kulhari has recently become a target of cybercrime in Mumbai, suffering a loss exceeding ₹2.4 lakh due to scammers who unlawfully accessed her mobile device and credit card.
The incident occurred on the evening of July 24, as the 43-year-old actress, residing in Yari Road, Versova, was heading to a movie at a multiplex close to Fun Republic Mall in Andheri West. During her journey, she received a bank notification alerting her to a foreign currency transaction of $2,525 charged to Aeromexico Airlines on her credit card.
Concerned by this alert, Kulhari promptly contacted her bank's customer service. Upon reviewing her account, it was discovered that four unauthorized transactions had taken place, amounting to over ₹2.43 lakh, all executed within a few minutes. The bank acted swiftly to block her card and avert any further unauthorized use.
After realizing the extent of the fraud, Kulhari filed a report at the Amboli police station, where an FIR was lodged against unidentified individuals. In her statement, she emphasized that she had never disclosed her card PIN, password, or any banking information to anyone. This led investigators to believe that the breach likely occurred through digital means, potentially involving malware or spyware on her device. The Cyber Cell is currently scrutinizing her banking history, transaction details, and digital activities, utilizing bank reference numbers to identify the perpetrators.
On a professional note, Kulhari has recently completed filming for her debut production, marking a significant emotional milestone in her career. She was last seen in the streaming series Shekhar Home and has appeared in notable projects such as Uri: The Surgical Strike, Mission Mangal, Four More Shots Please!, Criminal Justice, and Human.
The investigation into this cyber fraud case is still ongoing.
