In 2026, the *Chaturthi Tithi* will commence at 1:06 AM on October 29 and will end at 10:09 PM on the same day. The fast will be observed on Thursday, October 29, 2026, based on the *Udaya Tithi* (the *tithi* active at sunrise). On this day, women engage in a *nirjala* (waterless) fast and offer prayers to Karwa Mata.

Significance of the Fast

According to tradition, fasting on this day is believed to bestow blessings for a husband's longevity and a joyful married life. Performing the rituals correctly on Karwa Chauth is deemed crucial, as it is thought to bring happiness and prosperity, ensuring that devotees receive the full benefits of their prayers. Let’s explore the rituals and the moonrise timing for this day.

Moonrise Timing on Karwa Chauth

The moon is anticipated to rise at 8:17 PM on Karwa Chauth. After sighting the moon, women can perform *arghya* (a water offering) to the moon and conclude their fast. This year, Karwa Chauth is expected to bring good luck to individuals of four specific zodiac signs, promising them success and happiness.

Rituals for Karwa Chauth Puja

On Karwa Chauth, set up an image of Karwa Mata on a clean *chowki* (platform) and also worship Lord Ganesha. For the puja, take an earthen *karwa* (pitcher) filled with water. Arrange *roli* (vermilion), flowers, sweets, and other essentials on the *puja thali* (worship tray). Light a lamp before Karwa Mata and perform the rituals as per tradition. During the worship, listen to the *vrat katha* (the story associated with Karwa Chauth).

After the story, offer *akshat* (unbroken rice), flowers, and sweets to the deities. Following tradition, items symbolizing marital happiness (*suhag* materials) may also be presented to Karwa Mata. In the evening, upon the moon's rise, look at the moon.

Then, view the moon through a sieve, offer *arghya* (a water offering), and pray for your husband's long life and a blissful married life. After offering *arghya* to the moon, you may break your fast.
