Jaipur BookMark Returns for Its 13th Edition

The Jaipur BookMark (JBM), recognized as South Asia’s premier B2B publishing platform, is set to make its return for the 13th time, coinciding with the Jaipur Literature Festival from January 15 to 19. This event will gather an impressive array of publishers, authors, translators, literary agents, booksellers, and industry experts from India and around the world, all aimed at discussing emerging trends, international partnerships, and innovative practices that are shaping the modern publishing landscape.


Insights from JBM Leadership

Manisha Chaudhry, the Director of JBM, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming edition, stating: “This year’s event is crafted to inspire and inform, focusing on new narrative forms, the vibrancy of Indian language publishing, and the influence of technology, fostering collaboration among all attendees.”


Namita Gokhale, Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Jaipur Literature Festival and Director of JBM, added: “We are cultivating a diverse community of book creators across various languages and platforms, sharing our narratives through both innovative and traditional technologies.”


A Rich Program of Events

The festival promises a comprehensive program that mirrors the evolving global publishing scene. The keynote address will be delivered by renowned poet, cultural theorist, and curator Ranjit Hoskote, setting an intellectual framework for the gathering. The session titled ‘Illuminating Translations’ will feature Kanishka Gupta, award-winning translator Deepa Bhasthi, and editor Moutushi Mukherjee, who will delve into the significance of translations and bibliodiversity, particularly in relation to Banu Mushtaq’s Booker Prize-winning work, ‘Heart Lamp’.


Exploring Technology's Role in Publishing

In a discussion moderated by Meru Gokhale, Samir Patil and Emma House will examine the effects of generative AI and emerging technologies on the publishing industry. Another session will see Anjum Sharma, Arti Jain, and Anurag Minus Verma engage with Jai Prakash Pandey on how digital platforms are revitalizing Hindi literature. Additionally, Ananth Padmanabhan, CEO of HarperCollins India, will converse with Shreya Punj about navigating large-scale technological changes.

Other notable discussions will cover the cultural importance of legacy bookstores, Norwegian children’s publishing in anticipation of Bologna 2026, the cultivation of reading cultures, and a collaboration between India-UK publishing fellows facilitated by The British Council.
