Punjab Unveils Advanced 120-Bed Capital Hospital in Moga

On Saturday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the modern 120-bed 'Capital Hospital' in Moga, emphasizing that this facility will greatly enhance access to advanced medical care in the Malwa region. He highlighted that this is the first multi-speciality hospital in Moga district to receive accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), ensuring that residents can receive specialized treatment for serious health conditions closer to home.
Eligible patients will benefit from cashless treatment options under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna and the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). The Punjab Government is also expanding affordable healthcare through its network of 1,090 Aam Aadmi Clinics.
CM Mann expressed on social media: “Today, I dedicated the 120-bed state-of-the-art Capital Hospital in Moga to the people of Punjab. This facility, equipped with cutting-edge medical technology, will also offer free treatment under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana. Residents of the Malwa region will no longer need to travel far for quality healthcare. We are committed to ensuring that every Punjabi has access to modern, affordable, and high-quality medical services.”
During his address, he clarified, “This is not a political event but part of our ongoing efforts to foster development across Punjab. Our government prioritizes education and healthcare as they are fundamental to inclusive growth.”
He acknowledged the esteemed role of doctors, stating, “Healthcare and education are noble professions dedicated to serving humanity. Unfortunately, some individuals tarnish these fields, but our administration is dedicated to restoring public trust in both sectors.”
Referring to the new hospital, CM Mann remarked, “It is a source of great pride that such a modern facility with advanced technology has been established here. The best medical professionals will provide quality care to the community. When we took office in 2022, Punjab was ranked 27th in school education. Today, through persistent reforms, we have become the leading state in this area.”
He noted, “Previously, government schools were seen as only for the underprivileged, but we have transformed the education system with Schools of Eminence. Now, Punjab has surpassed Kerala to become the top-performing state in school education.”
CM Mann highlighted the significant increase in NEET qualifiers from government schools, stating, “In 2022, only 82 students passed the NEET exam from government schools, while this year, 881 students succeeded, showcasing the remarkable changes in our education system.”
He also mentioned that both the Punjab Government’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana and the Central Government’s health insurance schemes will be available at the newly opened hospital, maximizing benefits for patients. Additionally, the government has initiated the first dedicated Sadak Surakhya Force in the country to enhance road safety, comprising 1,597 specially trained personnel and 144 modern vehicles.
Since its inception in February last year, this force has reportedly halved road accident fatalities and ensured the safe return of valuables to accident victims.
CM Mann further stated, “Punjab has launched the first universal healthcare scheme in India, Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, which offers cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh annually for every family in the state. This initiative significantly alleviates the financial burden on residents while ensuring quality healthcare.”
He concluded by noting that over Rs 650 crore in cashless treatments have already been availed under this scheme, marking a new chapter in Punjab's healthcare landscape. He also mentioned that Punjab has become the second state after Delhi to establish a liver transplant center in Mohali, a significant advancement in providing world-class healthcare and saving lives.
