Nourishing Your Hair from Within
Achieving healthy hair starts with proper internal nourishment, much like other beauty secrets. While various products and oiling techniques claim to enhance hair externally, true hair and scalp health extends beyond surface treatments. Just as radiant skin requires addressing internal issues, the same principle applies to hair care. Aesthetician and wellness expert Sreeja Shrestha shares three effective home remedies that, with consistent application, can significantly improve your hair's condition.
Sesame Paste
Ingredients
- 50 grams black sesame seeds
- 25 grams white sesame seeds
- A splash of coconut oil
MethodRoast the black and white sesame seeds until dry, then grind them into a powder. Combine this powder with a splash of coconut oil and consume a spoonful after meals.
Benefits: Black sesame seeds are packed with iron, calcium, and antioxidants that help minimize hair loss. White sesame seeds provide healthy fats and zinc, enhancing scalp health. Coconut oil aids in nutrient absorption, resulting in stronger roots, improved hair density, and a natural shine.
Methi Water
Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoon methi seeds
- A glass of water
MethodSoak methi seeds in water overnight. In the morning, drink the water and chew on the softened seeds.
Benefits: Methi seeds are rich in protein and nicotinic acid, both of which promote hair growth. Methi water can accelerate hair growth, reduce hair fall, and help with a flaky scalp.
Seed Mix
Ingredients
- Black sesame seeds
- White sesame seeds
- Kalonji
- Fennel seeds
- Coriander seeds
- Curry leaves
MethodGrind all the seeds together and store them in an airtight container. Incorporate a spoonful into your daily diet, either with water or mixed into yogurt and smoothies.
Benefits: Sesame seeds enhance hair strength and pigmentation, while kalonji helps combat thinning hair. Fennel and coriander seeds support digestion, reducing stressors that affect hair health. Curry leaves provide beta-carotene and amino acids, promoting hair growth and thickness.
Important Note
Shrestha advises against using both sesame paste and seed mix remedies simultaneously, especially in warmer months, as they may increase body heat. It is also wise to consult a healthcare professional before altering your dietary habits.
