Exciting Release Date Announced for Ramayana Film
Ramayana Set to Premiere on November 6, 2026
The anticipation has finally come to an end. Producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari have officially announced that the film Ramayana will be released in theaters globally on November 6, 2026, just two days ahead of Diwali. This date holds special significance for the Kapoor family, as it coincides with the birthday of Raha, the daughter of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, making the film's release feel like a special gift for the family, even if it hasn't been explicitly stated.
In addition to revealing the release date, the filmmakers have also released an English version of the trailer, following the Hindi version that had already generated excitement online. The new trailer, which runs just under four minutes, is slightly shorter than the original. Notably, the cast delivers their lines in English rather than being dubbed, leading to speculation among fans about the use of AI for localization, although the production team has not confirmed this.
The trailer maintains familiar story elements. Yash's portrayal of Ravana begins the film by proclaiming himself the ruler of the heavens, earth, and the underworld. The narrative then shifts to Ranbir Kapoor's Rama, highlighting his loyalty to his father, King Dasharatha. The story progresses through the fourteen-year exile, introduces Sai Pallavi as Sita and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, and builds towards Surpanakha's pivotal encounter with the brothers, which ignites Ravana's quest for revenge and Rama's mission to rescue Sita.
Ramayana made its international debut at the San Diego Comic Con on July 24, with the full trailer being released shortly after on July 30. Sony Pictures is handling the global distribution of the film, and plans for a sequel are already underway, tentatively scheduled for Diwali 2027, although a specific date has yet to be announced.
