Understanding Jalabhishek: Engaging in *Jalabhishek*, which involves bathing Lord Shiva with holy water, is a revered practice during the Sawan month. This ritual typically incorporates items like Gangajal (Ganges water), other sacred waters, raw cow's milk, honey, *Belpatra* (wood apple leaves), and *Akshat* (unbroken rice). However, many devotees wonder about the proper sequence for presenting these offerings. As today marks the commencement of Sawan, knowing the correct order for *Jalabhishek* is essential for those planning to participate in this sacred act.

**Items Needed for Jalabhishek**
A copper or brass vessel (*Lota*)
Gangajal or sacred water
Raw cow's milk
Honey
*Belpatra* (wood apple leaves)
*Akshat* (unbroken rice grains)
White sandalwood paste
*Dhatura* and flowers
Ingredients for *Panchamrit*: milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar

**Correct Sequence for Jalabhishek**
To initiate *Jalabhishek*, fill a vessel with sacred water or Gangajal. Introduce *Akshat* into the water, followed by white sandalwood paste, raw cow's milk, and honey. Proceed to perform the *Jalabhishek* of the *Shivling* using this sacred mixture while reciting the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya." After this, present the remaining worship items.

**Order of Offering Materials**
Begin the worship of Shiva with *Jalabhishek*, which can be done using just Gangajal or sacred water.

Next, perform the *Abhishek* of the *Shivling* with *Panchamrit*. Rinse the *Shivling* afterward to cleanse it of the *Panchamrit* components (milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar) and dry it with a cloth.

Then, embellish Lord Mahadev with sandalwood paste, *Bhasma* (sacred ash), and other offerings, and apply the *Tripund* (three horizontal lines) on the *Shivling*.
