Additionally, a valid identity card—such as an Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, or Passport—is required. Ensure you have at least 4 to 5 recent photographs ready for the registration form. The registration fee is ₹150, which can be paid online or at a bank branch. Your registration will be finalized only after this payment is completed.
Eligibility Criteria and Guidelines
Rules for Participation:
The Shrine Board has set specific guidelines for the Amarnath Yatra. Only individuals aged between 13 and 70 years are eligible to participate. Those younger than 13 or older than 70 are prohibited from joining the pilgrimage. Furthermore, women who are more than six weeks pregnant are also not allowed to undertake this journey. Each pilgrim will receive a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) card, which must be worn around the neck throughout the journey for tracking by security personnel.
Selecting Your Route for the Yatra
Choosing the Right Path:
When registering for the Amarnath Yatra, pilgrims must select their preferred route. The first option is the Pahalgam route, which is approximately 48 kilometers long. This route is considered easier, taking about 3 to 4 days to reach the holy cave with a gradual ascent. The second option is the Baltal route, covering around 14 kilometers, allowing pilgrims to reach the cave in a single day, though it involves a steep and challenging climb. Choose the route that best matches your physical fitness and capabilities.
