Delicious Homemade Butter Cookies: A Simple Recipe
Bake Your Own Butter Cookies
Many of us tend to purchase butter cookies from stores or fancy bakeries, convinced that replicating that delightful taste and texture at home is impossible. However, what if we told you that you can create bakery-quality, melt-in-your-mouth cookies right in your kitchen?
Today, we present a straightforward recipe that enables you to whip up amazing butter cookies without needing to source any costly or unique ingredients.
**Ingredients for Butter Cookies**
Butter: ½ cup (softened to room temperature)
Powdered sugar: ⅓ cup
All-purpose flour: 1 cup
Vanilla essence: ½ teaspoon (optional: add a pinch of cardamom powder for extra flavor)
Salt: a pinch (if using unsalted butter)
**Instructions for Making Butter Cookies**
Begin by placing the butter in a large mixing bowl. Incorporate the powdered sugar and whisk until the mixture becomes light, creamy, and pale in color. If whisking by hand, this may take around 5 to 7 minutes.
Next, add the vanilla essence to the creamy mixture and blend well. Sift the flour into the bowl using a sieve to eliminate any lumps.
This step is crucial. After adding the flour, avoid kneading it like dough. Instead, gently combine the ingredients using your fingertips to form a soft dough.
Take small portions of the dough, about the size of a lemon. Roll them into balls and slightly flatten them. You can create a decorative pattern by pressing a fork onto the cookies. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and arrange the cookies with some space between them. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C for 12–15 minutes. Turn off the oven once the edges start to turn a light golden shade.
Alternatively, you can create a baking setup using a heavy-bottomed pan. Spread a layer of salt in the pan, place a stand inside, and heat for 10 minutes. Then, set the cookies on a plate, place it on the stand, cover, and bake over low heat for 20–25 minutes.
After baking, the cookies will be soft and fragile, so resist the urge to eat them immediately. Allow them to cool for at least 10–15 minutes at room temperature. They will develop that delightful crispiness reminiscent of store-bought cookies once fully cooled.
