Fried Paneer Momos: A Tasty Treat

If you're a fan of both momos and paneer, then fried paneer momos are an ideal snack choice. With their crunchy outer layer and soft, cheesy filling, these momos are loved by everyone, from kids to adults. Here’s a simple recipe to make them at home, which is also a healthier alternative.

Ingredients

For the dough:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
Water as needed
For the filling:
200 grams grated paneer
1 finely chopped onion
1 finely chopped bell pepper
2 finely chopped green chilies
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Salt to taste
For frying:
Oil

Preparation Steps
Begin by mixing the all-purpose flour and salt in a bowl. Gradually add water to form a firm dough. Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.
Next, prepare the filling by combining the grated paneer, onion, bell pepper, green chilies, and coriander in a large bowl. Add soy sauce, black pepper, and salt, mixing thoroughly to create your stuffing.
Divide the dough into small balls and roll them into thin circles. Place a spoonful of the paneer filling in the center of each circle. Fold the edges to form momos and seal them tightly to prevent any filling from escaping.
Steam the momos in a steamer for 8 to 10 minutes until they turn slightly translucent. Once done, remove them and allow them to cool for a bit.
Heat oil in a pan until moderately hot. Fry the steamed momos until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides. Once cooked, place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.

Serving Suggestions
Serve your hot fried paneer momos with red chili chutney, mayonnaise, or Schezwan sauce. For an extra kick, sprinkle some chaat masala on top. These momos are perfect for evening tea, as party snacks, or even in children's lunchboxes. Homemade fried paneer momos are not only fresher and more hygienic but also taste just as good as those from restaurants.
