**Ingredients:**
2 cups of Desiccated Coconut (grated, reserve some for coating)
1/2 cup of Condensed Milk (adjust as needed)
1/2 teaspoon of Cardamom Powder
1 tablespoon of Ghee (for roasting the coconut)
2–3 tablespoons of Milk
Chopped almonds for garnish.
**Preparation Method:**
Begin by heating one tablespoon of ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan or non-stick skillet. Add the 2 cups of desiccated coconut and roast it on low heat for 2–3 minutes, stirring continuously.
Be careful not to let the coconut change color; the aim is to remove moisture and heat it until it emits a delightful aroma. A high flame can cause the coconut to burn, leading to an unpleasant taste.
Once the coconut starts to smell fragrant, incorporate the condensed milk. Keep the heat low and mix well. The condensed milk not only adds sweetness but also helps bind the mixture, eliminating the need for additional sugar.
Next, stir in the cardamom powder. If the mixture seems too dry and hard to form into laddoos, add 2 tablespoons of milk. Continue cooking until the mixture starts to pull away from the pan's sides and forms a cohesive mass.
After the mixture is ready, transfer it to a plate. Allow it to cool slightly until it's manageable, then start shaping the laddoos. Lightly grease your hands with ghee, take a small amount of the mixture, and roll it into round shapes. You can adjust the size according to your preference.
Once shaped, roll the laddoos in dry grated coconut for an appealing finish, similar to those sold in stores. Finally, place a sliced almond on top of each laddu.
