Delicious Cabbage Parathas: A Quick and Flavorful Breakfast Option
Discover the Delight of Cabbage Parathas
If you've savored parathas filled with potatoes, bathua, or spinach during the colder months, it's time to explore a new breakfast option: cabbage parathas. These parathas are not only tasty but also simple to make, requiring minimal time in the kitchen. They are ideal for any meal of the day and are sure to please everyone, from kids to seniors.
According to homemaker Prabha Sharma, the first step in making cabbage parathas is to peel off the outer leaves of the cabbage. Rinse it thoroughly to eliminate any dirt. Finely chop the cabbage and transfer it to a bowl. Then, chop some onions, green chilies, and fresh coriander leaves, adding them to the cabbage and mixing everything together.
Creating the Stuffing for Cabbage Parathas:
Incorporate red chili powder, coriander powder, amchur powder, garam masala, and salt to taste, along with a spoonful of ghee into the cabbage mixture. Use your hands to blend the ingredients well, and your stuffing is ready. In a separate bowl, knead whole wheat flour with water until you achieve a soft dough. Once kneaded, cover the dough and let it rest for about five minutes. Divide the dough into small balls, roll one into a flat disc, and place a portion of the cabbage stuffing in the center. Seal the edges and gently roll it out again.
Cooking the Paratha with Ghee:
Heat a tawa (griddle) and place the rolled paratha on it. Apply ghee on both sides and cook over medium heat until it turns golden brown and crispy. Once cooked, remove it from the griddle. Prabha Sharma recommends serving cabbage parathas with potato curry, yogurt, and onion-garlic chutney. They are also a great accompaniment to morning tea and make an excellent choice for children's lunch boxes. Additionally, these parathas are perfect for serving unexpected guests.
