Moong Dal Ladoo Recipe
Moong Dal Ladoo Recipe: If you're in the mood for a sweet treat but want to skip sugar and jaggery, Moong Dal Ladoos are an excellent choice. Moong dal is known for its high protein content, making these ladoos a perfect snack to curb light evening hunger. Instead of sugar or jaggery, you can use dates or any natural sweetener you prefer. Here’s a simple recipe to follow...
Ingredients for Moong Dal Ladoos
1 cup washed moong dal (split yellow lentils)
8-10 pitted dates
2-3 tablespoons ghee
2 tablespoons almonds or cashews
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
½ teaspoon cardamom powder
1-2 tablespoons milk or water
Instructions for Making Moong Dal Ladoos
To prepare Moong Dal Ladoos, start by thoroughly cleaning and washing the moong dal, then drain the water. Allow the dal to dry for a bit. Heat a pan, add the moong dal, and roast it on low heat while stirring continuously. Roast until the dal turns light golden and emits a delightful aroma, being careful not to burn it.
Once roasted, let the dal cool, then grind it into a fine powder using a mixer. In the same pan, heat a bit of ghee, add the ground moong dal, and roast it on low heat for a few minutes until it releases a pleasant scent.
Chop the dates into small pieces and blend them in a mixer, adding a tiny bit of milk or water if necessary. In a separate pan, lightly roast the chopped nuts and sesame seeds.
Combine the date paste, nuts, sesame seeds, and cardamom powder with the roasted moong dal, mixing everything thoroughly. Allow the mixture to cool slightly. Once it’s cool enough to handle, grease your hands with ghee and shape the mixture into round ladoos.
A Healthy and Tasty Treat
Moong dal is packed with protein, fiber, and essential nutrients. Dates add natural sweetness, while nuts provide healthy fats and additional nutrients. However, since dates contain natural sugars, those with diabetes or specific dietary restrictions should be cautious about portion sizes.
