Understanding Varuthini Ekadashi

The Ekadashi that occurs during the waning phase of the moon in the month of Vaishakh is referred to as Varuthini Ekadashi. Scriptures state that the spiritual benefits gained from observing this day are comparable to the merits earned through Kanyadan (the act of giving away a daughter in marriage) or enduring years of strict penance. It is commonly believed that those who fast on Varuthini Ekadashi and engage in special worship of Goddess Lakshmi alongside Lord Vishnu will not only experience joy and prosperity but will also ensure their household wealth remains abundant.

Auspicious Timing and Rituals

This year, Varuthini Ekadashi (2026) aligns with several auspicious Nakshatras (celestial constellations), heralding a time for financial growth. Here are some effective remedies to honor Goddess Lakshmi on this significant day:

**Morning Worship During Brahma Muhurat**
On Ekadashi, rise before dawn and take a ritual bath, ideally adding a bit of Gangajal (holy Ganges water) to your bath. Dress in clean clothes, preferably in yellow or red, colors favored by Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu.

**Ritual Bathing of Shri Yantra and Goddess Lakshmi**
In your home shrine (Puja Ghar), place an idol or image of Goddess Lakshmi next to Lord Vishnu. On this auspicious day, perform the Abhishekam (ritual bathing) of a silver coin or a Shri Yantra using raw cow's milk mixed with Gangajal. After the Abhishekam, apply a Tilak (sacred mark) made from saffron.

**Evening Worship of Ashtalakshmi**
In the evening, light a nine-wicked lamp (Diya) filled with pure cow's ghee in your home temple. While facing Goddess Lakshmi, recite the Kanakadhara Stotram. It is believed that chanting this Stotram on Varuthini Ekadashi aids in recovering wealth that may have been delayed or stuck.

Chanting Mantras and Performing Aarti

**Mantra Chanting and Aarti**
Using a rosary (Mala) made of lotus seeds (Kamalgatta), chant the mantra "Om Shreem Hreem Kleem Shree Siddha Lakshmyai Namah" 108 times. Conclude your worship by performing the Aarti (ritual waving of lamps).

Conclusion

By following these rituals, devotees can seek the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi and ensure prosperity in their lives.
