Alok Shines at Coachella Amid Visa Challenges for International Artists
Alok's Performance at Coachella
Brazilian DJ Alok electrified the audience with his vibrant electronic dance music at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, even as concerns grow among international artists regarding the future of performing in the United States.
In a backstage interview at the Southern California festival, Alok expressed, "As a Brazilian, obtaining a visa has always been a challenge for us. So, for our situation, not much has changed."
He acknowledged, however, that the rules have shifted for artists from Europe and other regions.
Alok noted that he was aware of several Coachella performances being canceled in 2025 due to visa complications, feeling fortunate to participate while others could not.
"We were incredibly lucky. Our team was all present from LA, which was fantastic," he remarked.
Earlier in April, British artist FKA Twigs announced her withdrawal from Coachella, citing "visa issues" on her Instagram account, which also led to the cancellation of her entire North American tour.
Additionally, in March, Alvin Gibbs, a member of the British punk rock band UK Subs, revealed on Facebook that they were reportedly denied entry into the U.S. while en route to their performance at LA Punk Invasion 2025.
