Alia Bhatt's Memorable BAFTA Debut
Alia Bhatt Captivates Audience at BAFTAsBollywood actress Alia Bhatt made a striking entrance at the 79th BAFTA Awards, marking her first appearance as a presenter. She began her speech in Hindi, which delighted the audience. Videos from the event, held on Sunday at the Royal Festival Hall in London, quickly circulated online, garnering admiration from fans. "Namaskar! The next award is for a film that is not in English," she stated in the clip. "Don’t rush for the subtitles just yet. I was merely saying in Hindi that the upcoming award is for a non-English film. Cinema speaks in many languages, and what we celebrate is the universal language of film, which we all understand fluently. The remarkable nominees are," she continued.
Alia presented the award for Best Film Not in the English Language to Norwegian director Joachim Trier for his film, Sentimental Value. During his acceptance speech, Trier remarked, "We live in an era where images are bombarded at us faster than we can comprehend. Many of these visuals are consumed on our phones, often trying to sell us ideas and ideologies. This year’s films encourage deep, humanistic viewing, allowing us to gather in spaces like this to connect with one another through empathy and curiosity, enhancing the theatrical experience."
For the ceremony, Bhatt chose a stunning custom silver dress by Gucci, paired with a chic white stole. She was part of a glamorous group of presenters that included notable figures such as Alicia Vikander, Bryan Cranston, Cillian Murphy, Emily Watson, and Monica Bellucci.
