Trump's Stance on Strait of Hormuz

In a recent press conference in Dubai, President Donald Trump asserted that the nations dependent on the Strait of Hormuz should take charge of its security, stating, "There’s no reason for us to do this."

Trump voiced his irritation with allies who have not contributed sufficiently to the US military efforts, urging them to "go get your own oil." His comments reflect a fluctuating stance on the ongoing diplomatic discussions with Iran, oscillating between optimism and threats of escalation.

Rising Fuel Prices Amid Conflict

On Tuesday, US gas prices surged past $4 per gallon for the first time since 2022, driven by the ongoing conflict with Iran, which is causing global fuel prices to rise. Experts predict that these elevated fuel costs will eventually impact grocery prices as transportation and packaging expenses increase.

Military Actions Intensify

Israel and the US have initiated a new series of airstrikes targeting Iran, with strikes reported in Tehran early Tuesday. Although Iran has reduced its missile launches, it continues to deploy low-flying drones that are more challenging to intercept. The conflict has resulted in over 3,000 fatalities and displaced millions in Lebanon and Iran.

In Iraq, a US journalist has reportedly been kidnapped, although the connection to the ongoing war remains unclear.

Drone Attack at Kuwait Airport

A drone strike attributed to Iran and its allies targeted a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport, igniting a significant fire, according to local authorities. The state-run KUNA news agency reported that there were no immediate injuries, and firefighting teams were deployed to manage the situation.

This is not the first instance of Kuwait International Airport being attacked during the conflict, with indications that Iranian-backed militias in Iraq may have orchestrated the assault.

Israel Targets Fentanyl Supply

In a separate incident, Israel announced it had struck a facility in Iran believed to supply fentanyl for chemical weapons. Iran confirmed the attack on the Tofigh Daru factory but claimed it only produces "hospital drugs" for medical use.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the strike, accusing Israel of targeting pharmaceutical companies. The US and Israel have previously warned that Iran was experimenting with fentanyl for military applications.

UAE Bans Iranian Travelers

As the conflict escalates, the United Arab Emirates has prohibited Iranian nationals from entering or transiting through the country, as confirmed by three major airlines. Emirates, Etihad, and FlyDubai announced this restriction on their websites, although holders of 10-year Golden Visa residency permits are exempt.

No official statement has been released by UAE authorities, but the country has already closed institutions like the Iranian Hospital and Iranian Club.

Recent Attacks on Maritime Vessels

A tanker was attacked off the coast of Qatar early Wednesday, with the UK Maritime Trade Operations center reporting that a projectile struck the vessel. Fortunately, there were no environmental damages, and the crew remained unharmed.

This follows an attack on a fully loaded Kuwaiti oil tanker near Dubai, marking a troubling trend with over 20 vessels targeted in the Persian Gulf since the onset of the war.

Saudi Arabia Intercepts Drones

In the early hours of Wednesday, Saudi Arabia reported the interception and destruction of two drones. As a Gulf ally of the US, Saudi Arabia has faced repeated attacks from Iran, with recent missile and drone strikes injuring more than two dozen American service members at a Saudi air base.
