US Secretary of War's Address on Ceasefire

In a recent address, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth spoke to the nation following a temporary ceasefire in the Middle East. He stated that Iran had pleaded for this truce, and President Donald Trump opted for mercy towards Tehran, emphasizing that the Iranian leadership recognized that negotiating was preferable to the dire consequences they faced. Hegseth remarked, "Iran begged for this ceasefire - and we all know it... Operation Epic Fury was a historic and overwhelming victory on the battlefield."

Further commenting on Iran's military capabilities, Hegseth noted, "Iran's navy is at the bottom of the sea... Iran's air force has been wiped out. Iran no longer has any sort of a comprehensive air defense system... Their missile program is functionally destroyed." He praised President Trump for his restraint, stating that he could have severely damaged Iran's economy in moments but chose to show mercy instead.

Hegseth reflected on Iran's history of aggression, saying, "For decades, Iran killed Americans with roadside bombs in Iraq, using cowardly proxies to do their dirty work... They thought they could bleed America with impunity. Well, they just learned the hard way what happens when you try to fight us directly." He commended US forces for their bravery, stating, "To the warriors of Epic Fury, I say well done. You’re the backbone of our country. Your skill, bravery, and sheer guts showed the world what America is all about... To the families of our fallen, your sacrifice was in service of a historic cause, and we will always remember your heroes - our heroes. We will continue to honor them."

Looking ahead, Hegseth assured that the US would ensure Iran adheres to the ceasefire and ultimately engages in negotiations. He stated, "We'll stay put, stay ready, stay vigilant... our troops are prepared to defend, prepared to go on offense, prepared to restart at a moment's notice." On the topic of Iran's nuclear ambitions, he reiterated that it was non-negotiable for them to possess nuclear capabilities, affirming, "We know exactly what they have, and they know that... What the new Iranian regime knows is they'll never have a nuclear weapon or the capability to get a path to one."
