US Strikes Intensify in Southern Iran

On Thursday, the United States executed its sixth series of airstrikes against Iran, focusing on critical infrastructure in the southern regions. This operation, as stated by US Central Command (CENTCOM), aims to "further diminish Iranian military capabilities." Reports of explosions emerged from various locations in southern Iran, including Qeshm Island, Bushehr, and Ahvaz, with Iranian state media indicating that bridges, an airport, and a communications tower were among the targets.

Key Infrastructure Targets Affected

According to Iran's Fars news agency, a suspected US strike hit a bridge in the Bandar-e Khamir area, which serves as a crucial connection between Bandar Abbas and Lar. Iranian state television later confirmed that two bridges in Hormozgan province, specifically the Kahurestan Bridge and the Girveh Bridge, were struck. The Hormozgan Governor's Office verified that the Kahurestan Bridge was damaged during the attacks, stating that emergency services were dispatched and the situation was managed. Reports indicate that two individuals lost their lives and four were injured due to the strikes on these bridges.

Airport and Communications Tower Targeted

The IRGC-affiliated Tasnim News Agency reported that US fighter jets targeted Iranshahr Airport in southeastern Iran, with three significant explosions heard in the vicinity post-strike. Additionally, a communications tower located on a hill in Bandar Abbas was hit, leading to power outages in parts of the city. The agency noted that seven people sustained injuries from the attack in southern Iran. Furthermore, Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences reported one fatality and eight injuries from a US strike in the Tappeh Allah-o-Akbar neighborhood of Bandar Abbas, with seven of the injured suffering from blast-related injuries and one with a fracture.

Ongoing Strikes and Regional Tensions

The Hormozgan Governor's Office indicated that areas near Qeshm were targeted around 11:10 AM, although details regarding casualties or damage were not immediately available. CENTCOM confirmed that this operation marks the sixth consecutive night of US strikes aimed at undermining Iran's military strength. In a related development, Kuwait reported detecting 32 hostile drones in its airspace since early morning. A US military spokesperson informed that there are 50,000 American troops stationed in the Middle East, prepared for any mission. Additionally, the US Embassy in Baghdad has urged American citizens in Iraq to stay vigilant following a drone attack in Erbil on Wednesday.
