Unverified Claims Link White House Shooting Suspect to Savannah Guthrie
Allegations Surrounding the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting
Recent online discussions have emerged suggesting a potential connection between Cole Tomas Allen, the suspect in the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and television host Savannah Guthrie. Allen, a 31-year-old from Torrance, California, faces charges for allegedly attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump during an event at the Washington Hilton, attended by the president and other high-ranking officials. However, these claims lack substantiated evidence.
An image circulating on social media claims to depict Allen alongside Guthrie, with accompanying posts alleging that he had previously served as her driver and that his spouse works as her assistant. Additionally, some users have attempted to link these allegations to the disappearance of Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, who went missing from her Tucson, Arizona home on February 1. Nonetheless, no verified evidence has been presented to establish any relationship between Allen and Guthrie.
Fact-checking efforts have revealed that Allen is identified as a teacher, mechanical engineer, and game developer, rather than a former driver for Guthrie. Furthermore, there are no credible reports indicating that his wife is employed as her assistant, and some sources suggest that he may not even be married. Social media users have criticized these claims, labeling them as ‘fake news’ and highlighting the absence of supporting evidence.
Recently, Savannah Guthrie resumed her position on NBC’s Today show after a hiatus related to her mother’s disappearance. Investigators have not publicly identified any suspects in the case, and forensic examinations, including DNA testing by the FBI, are still in progress. Authorities have not suggested any connection between the missing persons case and the shooting incident.
