Abu Dhabi: On Saturday, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) confirmed that it successfully intercepted multiple Iranian missiles aimed at its territory.


The UAE's Ministry of Defence issued a statement indicating that the nation faced a "brazen attack" involving Iranian ballistic missiles, which were effectively neutralized by the UAE's air defense systems, ensuring that the security situation remains stable.


The statement also noted that debris from the intercepted missiles fell in a residential area of Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and resulting in the death of an individual of Asian descent.


"The Ministry of Defence reported that today, the UAE was subjected to a bold attack with Iranian ballistic missiles, which were intercepted with high efficiency by our air defenses. Authorities managed the aftermath of debris in a residential area, leading to some damage and the unfortunate loss of life," the statement read.


The Ministry condemned the missile attack, emphasizing that targeting civilian areas and national institutions is unacceptable and represents a serious escalation that jeopardizes civilian safety and stability.


Abu Dhabi further asserted that this incident is a "flagrant violation" of its sovereignty and international law, and it reserves the right to respond decisively to protect its territory and citizens.


The Ministry reassured that it remains vigilant and prepared to address any threats, prioritizing the safety of its citizens, residents, and visitors. It also urged the public to rely on official sources for information and to refrain from spreading rumors.


In a related development, US President Donald Trump announced that American forces are engaged in a "massive and ongoing" operation against Iran, aimed at dismantling its missile capabilities.


"The United States military is conducting a significant operation... We will destroy their missiles and eliminate their missile industry," he stated in a video message shared on his social media platform.
