UAE Temporarily Halts Operations at Habshan Gas Facilities

Abu Dhabi: On Thursday, officials from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced a temporary suspension of operations at the Habshan gas facilities due to debris falling from intercepted missiles, which they attributed to a recent Iranian attack that they labeled as 'terrorist'.

The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the missile strike aimed at the Habshan gas facility and the Bab field, noting that the country's air defense systems successfully intercepted the missiles without any reported injuries.

The Ministry characterized these assaults as a 'serious escalation and a breach of international law'.

Furthermore, the UAE asserted its right to implement all necessary actions to defend its sovereignty and national security, as well as to protect its national interests.

The Ministry also highlighted that this 'terrorist attack on critical infrastructure and oil facilities poses a direct threat to both regional security and global energy stability'.

Earlier on Wednesday, the UAE had cautioned that attacks on energy facilities linked to Iran's South Pars gas field could jeopardize global energy security and regional stability.

In its statement, the Ministry reiterated that assaults on energy infrastructure associated with the South Pars field, which extends into Qatari territory, represent a dangerous escalation.

It emphasized that targeting energy sector infrastructure directly threatens global energy security and the stability of the region and its inhabitants.

The Ministry also warned that such actions could lead to severe environmental repercussions and put civilians, navigation routes, and essential industrial and urban facilities at risk.

It stressed the importance of avoiding attacks on critical infrastructure under any circumstances, reaffirming the necessity of adhering to international law to maintain security and stability in the region.
