He accused the Iranian government of delaying negotiations, a stark contrast to his earlier optimism about reaching an agreement within a few days.

On his social media platform, Trump vented his frustrations, stating that Iran had squandered the opportunity for a beneficial deal and would now face consequences. He claimed that much of Iran's military capabilities had been diminished and that the nation had suffered significant defeats.

Triggering Events

The recent escalation began on Monday when an Iranian drone targeted a US Army Apache helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump recounted that the drone struck between the pilots but did not explode, allowing them to safely land the helicopter in the sea. They were subsequently rescued by an unmanned sea drone, marking a notable event for US military operations.

In response to the drone incident, the US conducted what it termed self-defense strikes against Iranian targets on Tuesday night.
