Trump Defends Iran Policy Amid Resignation

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump addressed the recent resignation of Joe Kent, the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, defending his administration's approach towards Iran. Kent had stepped down, stating he could not ethically support the ongoing conflict with Iran, claiming that the nation did not present an immediate threat to the United States.

In response to Kent's resignation, Trump expressed his disagreement with Kent's views. He remarked, “I read his statement. I always thought he was a nice guy, but I considered him to be quite weak on security.” Trump further emphasized that Kent's stance on Iran was a valid reason for his departure, stating, “When I read his statement, I realized it's a good thing that he's out, because he said Iran was not a threat.” He concluded by asserting that Iran indeed posed a significant threat, a sentiment he believes is recognized globally.
