Trump's Experience During the Incident

Washington: President Donald Trump recounted his experience during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner, which turned chaotic when gunfire erupted at the Washington Hilton hotel. In a recent interview with CBS's '60 Minutes', he shared his thoughts on the incident.

Trump expressed that he was not overly concerned about potential injuries when he heard the shots. "I understand life. We live in a crazy world," he stated, reflecting on the moment.

He acknowledged that his desire to witness the unfolding situation may have delayed the Secret Service's attempts to ensure his safety. "I wanted to see what was happening. I wasn’t making it that easy for them," he explained.

As the situation escalated, Trump recalled being urged by Secret Service agents to get down on the floor for safety. "I started walking. And they said, 'Please go down, please go down on the floor.' So I went down and the first lady went down also," he added.

During the interview, tensions rose when Trump was questioned about references made to him in a manifesto by the shooter. He reacted strongly, stating, "I was waiting for you to read that, because I knew you would, because you’re horrible people."

When pressed about whether he believed the shooter was targeting him, Trump firmly denied any association with the claims made in the manifesto, asserting, "I’m not a pedophile... I was totally exonerated."

Furthermore, Trump urged the White House Correspondents' Association to reschedule the dinner within the next month, emphasizing the importance of not allowing such events to be canceled due to the actions of a disturbed individual.
