Trump Issues Stark Warning to Iran Amid Tensions Over Strait of Hormuz
Trump's Ultimatum to Iran
During a press conference at the Oval Office, President Donald Trump reiterated his stern warning to Iran, asserting that the nation could be "taken out in one night" as the deadline he imposed for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz draws near. He emphasized that this decisive action could occur as soon as tomorrow.
Previously, Trump indicated that Tuesday at 8 PM ET would serve as Iran's "final deadline". On Easter Sunday, he expressed on Truth Social that Iran must "open the f-ing strait" or face severe consequences. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, he stated that the U.S. would target Iranian infrastructure if the blockade persisted, declaring, "If they don't do something by Tuesday evening, they won't have any power plants, and they won't have any bridges standing."
Additionally, Trump discussed the successful rescue of a crew member from a downed F-15E Strike Eagle, who had been stranded for 36 hours behind enemy lines. He described the officer, a "highly respected" colonel, as having sustained significant injuries before being retrieved by U.S. forces.
Trump emphasized the military's commitment to not leaving any American behind, stating, "In the United States military, we leave no American behind. We don't do it." He noted that the officer had landed in a perilous mountainous area filled with threats from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and had effectively followed training protocols to evade capture.
He explained that the crew member had treated his injuries and successfully communicated his location to American forces.
