Trump Issues Stark Warning to Iran Amid Ongoing Middle East Conflict
President Trump's Address on Military Actions Against Iran
Washington DC: In his first address since the escalation of conflict in the Middle East on February 28, President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, indicating that the United States is prepared to undertake significant military actions in the coming days. He mentioned that the US is close to achieving its military objectives against Iran and anticipates concluding operations within six weeks.
During his speech, Trump justified the military engagement with Iran, describing it as a necessary "investment." He emphasized that the current conflict, which has now lasted five weeks, is relatively brief compared to previous wars involving the US. To illustrate his point, he compared the duration of the Iran conflict with other historical wars:
- World War 1: One year, seven months, and five days
- World War 2: Three years, eight months, and 25 days
- The Korean War: Three years, one month, and two days
- The Vietnam War: 19 years, five months, and 29 days
- Iraq War: Eight years, eight months, and 28 days
Trump asserted that the US has significantly weakened Iran's military capabilities, claiming that it no longer poses a threat to the United States. He stated, "We are in this military operation for 32 days. The country has been eviscerated and is essentially no longer a threat," reinforcing his stance on the military actions taken.
‘Iran Would Be Hit Extremely Hard’: Trump warned that Iran would face severe consequences in the upcoming weeks, stating, "We are going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks. We are going to bring them back to the stone ages, where they belong. In the meantime, discussions are ongoing."
‘Regime Change Not Washington’s Goal’: The President also mentioned that while there has been a shift in leadership in Iran due to the ongoing military actions, regime change was not an official goal of the US. He noted the significant losses among Iran's leadership, stating, "Regime change was not our goal. We never said regime change, but regime change has occurred because of the deaths of all of their original leaders. They're all dead."
Middle East Conflict: Trump's comments come amidst ongoing diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran. The conflict erupted on February 28, following joint military operations by the US and Israel that resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, aged 86. In response, Iran targeted US and Israeli interests in various Gulf nations, leading to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route for global oil, which has contributed to rising oil prices and an energy crisis in the region.
